Laughter is key
My first children's picture book came about while driving home after a stand-up comedy gig. I was thinking about why people laugh and how good it is to hear a crowd all laughing together. It's a real buzz. And as a comedian it makes those endorphins run wild, sort of like flying.
So, I started coming up with possible acronyms for the word LAUGH. I landed on Let a Unicorn Get High. I thought to myself, "wow, what a great name for a kid's book." The story wrote itself after that.
A year down the track and a lot of work, and now you can get your own copy of Let a Unicorn Get High. It's the story of a little unicorn who has to cross Australia to find her laugh. She meets friends along the way and hears some pretty bad jokes. In the end she discovers the magic that laughing with a group can bring.
